Capri Sun Reformulates to Just 5 Ingredients

Capri Sun Reformulates to Just 5 Ingredients

Recently, Capri Sun also swapped high-fructose corn syrup for real sugar

The new formula also has fewer calories and grams of sugar per pouch.

Two months after announcing the removal of high-fructose corn syrup from the Capri Sun formula, Kraft Foods has announced an even bigger reformulation — to five ingredients.

The new Capri Sun has water, sugar, juice, citric acid, and natural flavor, and three fewer grams of sugar per pouch. In an effort to better align the brand with a healthy lifestyle, Capri Sun also launched a new advertising campaign earlier this year promoting active play.

The reformulation also comes with a slight package redesign — a clear-bottomed pouch — so you can see inside your drink, if that matters to you.

The shift isn’t much of a surprise, given similar strides in the last year from food companies to clean up ingredient lists as consumers called for greater transparency. Unilever, for example, managed to cut down the formula considerably for I Can’t Believe It’s Not Butter.

The Hershey company, meanwhile, announced that it would replace high-fructose corn syrup with sugar in a number of its products, and Kool-Aid recently introduced a low-sugar option.

These Plastic Drink Pouches Are Practically BEGGING You to Make Adult Capri Suns

Quick question: What’s the worst thing about Capri Suns?

OK, you’re right𠅋ut what’s the worst thing besides the stubborn hole that refuses to accommodate a straw despite that being its only job?

If your answer is anything besides “no alcohol,” you’re in the wrong place.

Yeah, yeah, yeah, I know what you’re thinking: 𠇋ut aren’t Capri Suns marketed toward children?” That’s a valid argument, but not one I’m willing to consider right now.

So, anyway, back to the real point: Adult Capri Suns need to exist ASAP.

Until the powers that be make that happen, you can DIY the drinks in your own kitchen with these clear, zippered pouches from Amazon.

The airtight bags (sold in a set of 50 for $12) even come with fun straws!

Still not sold? Well, the reviews are in𠅊nd they’re amazing.

“My boyfriend and I made alcoholic Capri Suns for NYE and everyone loved them,” raved one customer. “These bags held up perfectly! They seal rather easily. They don&apost buckle once the bottom is expanded. I even kept these outside in 20 degree weather and the contents were cold but didn&apost freeze through. I will definitely order these again if I need to bring a drink to a party.”

solutely loved these bags to take out on the boat,” another reviewer wrote. “They are the perfect size to fit in any cooler and the bottom makes it really easy to just put in a cup holder or set down somewhere and not have to worry about keeping it in your hand. Once you seal the little zipper part they are watertight and they don&apost break open at all. Love these so much.”

I really have no idea but what about Crystal Light? all sorts of flavors, i used to drink them all the time.

Anyone know? I mean, its low in sugar too, right?

My guess with some OR most drinks (except for dark colas, pineapple and/or orange juice) is that
unless you drink them by the gallon MIGHT be okay.
But always check with dietitian to make sure they're okay for YOU.

Crystal light is made with Aspartame, an artificial sweetener also known as NutraSweet

Welcome to the empire of the good where the generous king and his gracious queen reign with love and joy.Happy and easygoing, they are always ready to have fun and laugh at a good joke.
And they love sports, dragon racing being their favorite one. Every year they host a big race in their castle, in which the brave knights with their fast dragons race each other.

Whoooooosh! Have you seen the bold knight soaring through the sky on his dauntless dragon? They are on a mission to spread what is true and good – and they will must probably win the upcoming air race – delighting the king and the queen.
How fast can you fly on your dragon?

The good king cares about the people in his kingdom. All their matters are important to this understanding and honorable king. He is blessed with a zest for life and wants to pass on his joy. Modest about his rank, he is generous and noble.

The King is also passionate about sports, dragon racing being his favorite! Every year he holds a big competition for all the brave knights and their fast dragons in his castle accompanied by a big fair. Nothing makes the king more happy than seeing all the smiling faces of his subjects. Their laughter is music to his ears!

This queen´s voice rings with power and grace. Her beauty is indescribable.
A loving and caring nature, the gracious queen does not look down at her subjects at all, but cares for their wellbeing. She is an equal partner to the good king and rules with fairness.

The queen is widely admired with great passion and her subjects would do anything for her. Her heart opens up to the charm of the bold knight, who is turning into the hero of the mission to spread what is true and good.
You should see him whooshing about on his sleek race dragon, bursting with courage and strength.

This bold knight´s heart leaps when he belts through the air on his dauntless dragon. The faster the better! He never passes a chance for an adventure. Always on the move and ready to set out on a mission to spread what is good and true, this lively character bursts with enthusiasm, strength and confidence.

In order to stay healthy and fit, the bold knight works out a lot and makes sure that he maintains a balanced diet. Who exercises, trains, studies and eats healthy all the time deserves one treat or another from time to time!

This dragon is not an obstacle that the heroic knight has to overcome, but a loyal friend and powerful vehicle that makes the hero shine even more. Dauntless, patient, robust but also very gentle: this dragon is someone to rely on. Combining the knights courage and the dragons celerity, they are an invincible team! Their friendship is based on respect and the desire to achieve noble goals.

Truly devoted to their emperor, they are ready to do whatever it takes to honor the good king – but when the queen grants them a smile, their hearts are in their boots.
Let´s saddle up!

Pling Bing and Kawum! Here come the two elfin princesses, fair-minded and with unflinching courage. They are on a mission to clean up their forest – the orcs have become more and more casual with disposing their waste recently and the forest starts to look like a landfill. So they set out to make a change, put up dumpsters and educate people about waste disposal.

No more littering! This is the big goal. On their mission the two elves count on the support of the dilligent dwarfs. Equipped with different dumpsters, they stomp through the forest and collect rubbish. But that´s not all: they make useful items out of the things that others throw away.

A shimmering light surrounds this delicate and sensitive being: the fairy elve cares for the beauty of nature and the wealth it provides.

For it to prosper, nature needs to be respected. And exactly this is her most important concern: how can we all live in greater harmony with nature? Everyone must make their contribution and take responsibility to do as little harm to others as possible, while leading a joyful life.

A strong self-assertion and a close bond with nature – this is what characterizes the elfin warrior. No wonder that she fights against the littering that pollutes the beautiful magic forest, making life ever more difficult for its inhabitants.

She is ready to fight for a clean forest and build environmental consciousness in the minds of the inhabitants of the forest. If it weren´t for the stubborn orcs, her mission would already be accomplished. But the eflin warrior has her own special methods to get the orcs to take on their responsibility…

Inspired by nature, that recycles almost everything that it produces, the diligent dwarf and his loyal friends are the garbage collectors of the magic forest. Being creative, they make useful things out of the waste. They do their work with abiding commitment, being the backbone of the elve´s mission.

They are always cheerful and polite, but when they catch a polluter in the act, they will give an extensive lecture about the consequences of littering, the opportunities of recycling and our own responsibility for it all. And after this lecture, every slob, however hard-nosed, will rethink their way of life.

Rude and reckless, the orc and his clan, dispose everything that has served its purpose just right where they stand. And because the orcs are insatiable, they use a lot of items and hence, throw away loads of waste. And because the area of the magic forest is limited, the slowly live in their own garbage. And the more polluted their living space becomes, the more grumpy they become.

Also, the other inhabitants suffer from the piles of rubbish, with the consequence of their vitality deteriorating, and their attitude towards the orc becoming worse every day. That´s quite a vicious circle of ongoing grumpiness.

Can the orcs find a way out?

The sky is the limit for those who dare! And the ingenious professor does. Making the impossible possible, exploring undiscovered worlds: the heart of a pioneer beats in his chest. Who could be a better partner on his expedition to unearth the truth behind humanities biggest myth than the fearless pirate?

They embark on a journey full of surprises in their flying ship. In Egypt, they are fooled by the mischieveous little mummy. And in the Himalaya they come across a clumsy but oh so charming yeti who could not harm a fly.

He is headstrong, always in high spirits and some even call him mad when I fact, he is just a genius. When it comes to discover all the many things that still remain a myth in this world, no distance is too far for the ingenious professor.

Are there really mummies spooking around in the Pyramids of Egypt? And what about the abominable snowman, the Yeti? He´s rampaging around in the Himalaya scaring of the mountaineers? Let´s find out what is behind all that! The professor does not hesitate and hires the daredevil pirate and his flying ship. Having an open mind, the professor tries everything to befriend them.

Being trapped in a dusty pyramid in Egypt for thousands of years – that can get quite boring. Imagine how happy the little mummy becomes now and then when visitors plod through the dark passages of the old pyramid. But why are all those people so scared? They scream at everything that moves and completely loose their mind when the mummy whooshes through shadow and light.

Shoo hoo! The little mummy is up to every trick! Can you hear the mummy giggle? It is thrilled to give that daredevil of a pirate and that know-it-all of a professor the fright of their lives!

He has sailed the seven seas, he withstood wind and weather and he turned the tide of many battles on sea and on land: this pirate is a daredevil who has seen it all.

Thinking nothing could shake him he joined the ingenious professor on his expedition to unearth the truth behind humanities biggest myth. But man he was wrong! Being fooled by a mischevieveous little mummy in the Pyramids of Egypt and stumble upon a clumsy Yeti in the Himalaya mountains – that blows away even the strongest daredevil! Astonished at first sight, he finally opens his mind makes some unlikely, but true friends.

Life in the high mountains is hard. All that snow, and the cold. Also, the food choices are rather limited. Not a good place for a foodie like the fluffy blue monster. How he craves for some fruits! Oranges, lemons, apples – the very thought of their fresh taste makes the monster´s mouth water.

His hope are the mountaineers: the monster suspects they carry tons of fruit provisions in their backpacks to stay energized for their climbing. So whenever a mountaineer comes in sight, the monster gets excited and cheerfully runs towards them, screaming

This Is What Capri-Sun for Grown-Ups Looks Like

Adulting can be hard at times. But not when you can drink rosé from a Capri-Sun style pouch while you’re lounging with friends soaking up the sun.

How good were the days when you would open up your lunchbox and that little foil pouch was waiting for you? It was like second nature putting your thumb over the top of the straw and poking it through for that first sweet sip.

Yes, we love wine in a can with their cute designs, and of course we&aposll never give up a standard bottle altogether, but this first ever, single-serve pouch is the answer to those no-glass-allowed or left-the-corkscrew-at-home conundrums. Perfect for the last days at the beach, BBQ&aposs, and picnics, these pouches also happen to be environmentally friendly. The lightweight packaging cuts down on its carbon footprint during shipping and transportation: a full truck load of Electric Rosé may carry over 90% beverage and only 10% packaging. By contrast, the same truck carrying bottled wine may carry a whopping 50% or more of packaging

The six-pack equals one and a half bottles of wine and each pouch contains 12.5% alcohol. Electric Rosé is durable, easy to pack, versatile, and most of all, fun—tugging at our nostalgic heartstrings. Electric Rosé isn&apost available nationwide just yet, but is currently sold in Georgia, Connecticut, Maine, New Hampshire, New Jersey, and Tennessee.

One Ingredient Slushies + Summer Pool Bag Essentials

Summertime means pool time (or beach time!). There are a few important things to remember to pack for a successful pool day or trip to the beach, so I&rsquom sharing my Summer Pool Bag Essentials and the easiest recipe for a one ingredient slushy. This post was created in partnership with Capri Sun.

Our neighborhood is pretty new still. We just moved in last Halloween after building our home. The great news is, our neighborhood pool and clubhouse were completed just in time for our first summer here. The kids have absolutely loved it.

We are going to the pool nearly every day, which means lots of pool bags are getting packed. Sometimes the kids will go up there together without me.

Our house is just a few houses down from the pool &ndash which is so great, because if they are up there without me I can quickly walk up and check on them. Sometimes we go all together.

It&rsquos funny though, they are so excited about the pool that sometimes there are even multiple trips within a day. Just the other day they spent a couple hours there in the afternoon, and then we all went up together after dinner.

No matter what is happening that day and who is going to the pool, we make sure to bring these pool bag essentials for a successful and fun pool day!

Sun Protection

Sunscreen

Our kids prefer stick sunscreen for their face and spray for their bodies. I like to use a sunscreen specifically formulated for face on myself so that I avoid any clogged pores since my skin can be prone to be oily.

Lip Balm with SPF

Sometimes I think we often forget that the lips are skin too, and are sensitive to the sun. I like to keep lip balm with SPF in my pool bag.

Sunglasses

My eyes are extremely sensitive to the bright sun. I always have sunglasses with me at the pool. Wearing sunglasses at the pool helps keep me from squinting.

Snacks

When we go to the pool, or the beach, we&rsquore usually there for several hours. Kids, and adults, can get hungry. If you&rsquore at a pool that has &ldquoadult swim,&rdquo having a healthy summer snack gives kids something to do while they wait for it to be kid swim again.

I try to pack things that don&rsquot make a lot of mess and are easy to pack. Finger foods and fresh fruits are best. Try some of these snacks:

Pina Colada Energy Balls feature a mix of protein, healthy fats, and naturally sweet pineapple, dates and coconut. Pop these bite sized treats in your mouth for a quick snack and energy fix.

Frozen Grapes are a healthy, cold snack during summer. Bonus: pack them near your drinks or other items that taste better cool to help keep those items cold.

Other ideas include: watermelon, berries, cherries, or crackers, or granola bars.

Drinks

Water is always a great option, but sometimes kids want something with a little flavor. Capri Sun Juice Drinks are the perfect beverage to provide to thirsty kids. My kids love them, and better yet, it&rsquos a juice drink approved by me because it has 35% less sugar than leading regular juice drinks.*

I love that they contain no artificial colors, flavors, or preservatives and no high fructose corn syrup. They come in 14 different flavors, so everyone is sure to be happy!

Did you know that you can make a quick juice slushy for a summertime pool treat using Capri Sun Juice Drinks? Just freeze the juice pouches ahead of time, let them thaw partially until they are icy but not frozen solid. Then, cut the tops off using scissors and eat with a spoon. This is a fun snack for the kids!

Hydration is so important when you&rsquore outside in the heat. Check out some of my tips for How to Keep Kids Hydrated.

Towels

Towels are definitely an essential for a couple of reasons. Obviously, for drying off at the end of a swim day. For me, I also like to use a towel during my time at the pool: I like to lay a towel out on my lounge chair so my skin doesn&rsquot stick to the plastic.

They&rsquore also helpful when it is time to go for squeezing excess water out of my hair so it doesn&rsquot drip all over in the car. And, of course if you are hopping in the car afterwards, towels are useful to sit on to keep the car seats dry.

Hair Care

The girls and I all have long hair, so I like to bring a wide comb and a bottle of spray conditioner along with hair ties or clips to the pool. That way, we can get our hair out of the way while we&rsquore swimming. Afterwards, we can comb it and detangle it, especially if we are headed somewhere after the pool and won&rsquot be going home to shower first.

Reading Material

My kids are old enough now that I can usually squeeze in a few minutes of reading time at the pool. Here are a few posts with summer book recommendations:

What are your favorite summertime pool tips?

Capri Sun Swimsuits Exist and Your Childhood Self Needs You to Buy One

The throwback swimming attire you never knew that you wanted (needed?) has arrived and we can’t wait to look like our favorite 󈦰s juice in a pouch. Yes, that’s right, Los Angeles-based clothing company Public Space has tapped into your childhood nostalgia with Capri Sun swimsuits. No straw struggles or accidental juice spurts, just good old-fashioned fashion fun.

For the ladies, there’s a cheery and cheeky Pacific-Cooler-flavored one-piece suit with windsurfers on the front and fruit on the back. For the fellas, there are trunks with windsurfers on one side and volleyball players on the other.

Even better news? Both of the suits are on sale for just $49.50 and you can get them just in time for Memorial Day weekend if you order by May 6th.

This isn’t the company’s first foray into drink-themed swimwear, reports Food & Wine: last year Public Space put out a six-suit line of LaCroix wear that went viral and is now (sadly) sold out. But if Capri Sun isn’t your favorite flavor of nostalgia, worry not: You can also find swimwear designed to look like Arizona Green Tea, Hi-C, Fiji water, and Crystal Pepsi — although, that last one is devastatingly only available in the men’s version for now.

Our money’s still on the Capri Sun bathing suit, however, ideally worn while sipping a pouch of nostalgic juice and singing the 1980s catchphrase: There’s only one Capri Sun! Great tasting fun when you punch open one!

Seattle-based writer Naomi Tomky uses her unrelenting enthusiasm for eating everything to propel herself around the world as an award-winning food and travel writer.
